just some random stuff – Dallas/Ft. Worth Child Photographer

OK…first of all…who watched A DOG NAMED CHRISTMAS last night? My eyes are so puffy this morning from bawling like a baby from it. To make matters worse, it had a double whamie….first the story of stray dogs in shelters (and let’s not forget they played the Sarah M. song in it too….come on…seriously, do you really want me to go down and adopt every dog in the shelter, because I’m just about going to do it)! Then…just when you think you are going to get a little break from crying and being able to see again and talk like a sane person, they hit you with the Hallmark commericals! Oh Lord…the flood is coming again! I seriously think I was crying straight for the full 2 hours. My husband thought I was crazy! We taped it for Miss G to watch but I’m not sure if I can take a round 2!! LOL!! It was such a sweet movie and it was so nice to see a family show on too. I LOVE this time of year. =)

Secondly….we’ve decided to forgo putting up our Christmas tree this year. I know, I know…it’s crazy but I keep having visions of Mr. G attacking the tree and it falling on him and all I see are little feet and arms poking out from under it. So instead I’ve set up 3 mini trees…one in each of the kiddos bedrooms and then one on our kitchen table. I know it’s not the same and I’m sure that Christmas Eve will come and I’ll wish I had put it up (who’s to say I won’t the night before) but again, I keep having that vision. Although…we could video tape it and win $10,000 from AFV! LOL!! Miss G said something funny…she asked me “well, if we don’t have a tree how is Santa going to know where to put the presents?” I said, “he’ll just know” and then she said “I’ll put post-it notes up for him pointing to the direction he needs to put them.” CUTE!!

Next, I attempted photos for our card and I ran out of strength and motivation about 5 minutes into it. My friend Dana said that’s why we should have someone else do it. I know but I would be so embarrass! Mr. G was licking Miss G! I do have some good outtakes…that may be the card photos in the end. I did however get some decent ones of the little lady. It’s funny, she was looking at a J.Crew catalog earlier so when I said it was time, she brought it in with her and started posing like they do….she channeled Crewcuts! That’s my girl!! =)

And last of all, Uncle Kenny….if you are reading this HAPPY late BIRTHDAY! =)

OK…I think that’s enough randomness for today…check back tomorrow because I’m sure I’ll have a lot of things swirling around in my head that I need to talk about. =)

xoxo,
Bren

Love the pink shirt photo!
I know what you mean about those hallmark commercials. I cry more during them than the actual movie.

I’ve been worried about our tree too this year with a monkey for a son… and well I really don’t want him ripping all the ornaments off and breaking them! But then another mom gave me hope she said to weight down the tree stand. And then target sells shatterproof ornaments! I wired those to the tree so they are safe anyway! Good luck! Merry Christmas!

So creative and fun with the lights! I love it!

Well I don’t have a toddler but I do have a 6 month old lab puppy which I think is worse! We have a gate up so he won’t destroy the tree. How did you light those fab pics? With your new studio light? Are those just white holiday lights behind her? Must know!

thanks everyone for the advice…I’ll have to rethink my position on the tree now!! LOL!!

Lisa…we had kittens one year when I was growing up and they attacked the tree…hid in it and stuff…they destroyed everything. That’s one Christmas I will always remember…and I was really little at the time.

The lights are Christmas lights that I just hung on my paper using clips. I wanted to use more but she was done posing for me.

Let me just say that when your child picks out their poses from a Crew Cuts catalog, any photographer would find them a wonderful subject ;) seriously…that shirt. I need that shirt for G. Always fabulous..that’s you!!

My Christmas tree and other decorations look MUCH different this year with a 1 year old boy running around the house. I have had to keep most decorations up higher and there are some I just plain won’t get out. However, he did the cutest excited “dance” when he saw the tree with lights for the first time. I won’t put any glass ornaments on his level–just my cloth or metal ones and I have a super-heavy-metal tree stand for our live tree. I am hoping that we will both survive the holidays ;) .

Firstly, I wanted to say I saw that movie coming out by Hallmark and immediately thought I *probably* wouldn’t be able to see it being that I watched Me and Marley and cried so hard that I was about hyperventilating at the end and my youngest was doing the same thing!!! UUGGG!!
I believe your girl can channel “ANY” posing position…she is a natural:)
