{elevate} a fine art photography exploration: volume 7

Create by Nichole Van, I’ve banded together with a handful of other photographers to start a blog project focusing on exploring the fine art side of photography. Each month, we will post a photo or series of images focused on art and photography. There are no rules. Just post what comes from the heart and allow the inner artist a chance to explore and fly.

So sorry to have missed Volume 6. I had a bunch of work stuff going on and I just couldn’t get out and shoot. I was really bummed that I had to bow out. From what I saw, the circle was AWESOME! Our group of girls are so extremely talented and inspiring! I really hope you all are enjoying the exploration so far.

I’ve been really really wanting to shoot a horse photo of lates (can you tell from a couple of my previous posts). I have this grand idea of a cloudy sky, the wind pushing the horse’s mane off to the side and so forth but unfortunately, that just hasn’t happened for me yet (I do vow to eventually caputre such an image). So this one will have to do. I posted this in my lifestyle challenge but for the {elevate}, I pushed it up a notch and converted it to b/w, added some more textures (for a Western Old-Time Feel) and used a couple artistic filters too. I really like how it turned out…now only if I could get that image that has been floating around in my head for the past few months, I’d be one HAPPY camper and have something cool to put over my fireplace. LOL!!

Thanks everyone for stopping by and please check out our first elevate post for 2012 by visiting Martha Schuster | i see the moon photography | Long Beach, CA.

  • Oooh this is nice, Bren. Reminds me of my riding days in Kentucky. Horses are unspeakably beautiful, and your image is perfection. Love the watercolor feel. xo

  • Your vision is fabulous, but so is what you captured here! Hopefully you will get some clouds and a soft breeze soon!

  • So perfect! I love what you did with this image. It looks almost like a watercolor/sketch. I hope you print this big and hang it.
